Some budget DSLR Review...

Hey guys, tonight I am writing a short review on some budget DSLRs,and I hope this could help for those who wished to upgrade from a compact digital camera. The DSLR I am writing about for today is Nikon D40,D60,Canon EOS 1000D and Olympus E-420.All of them, except Nikon D60,are all priced under RM2000.I wrote D60 exclusively for Steven =D

I will start of with Nikon D40,a entry-level DSLR with 6.1MP.It was kinda old(Nov-06),but golden!!!If you're just starting out in photography, keen to learn how to take a good picture rather than to chase megapixels and Live View mode, this is the good entry-level DSLR for you.The camera is a little bit sluggish to use and low on features, but its image quality shows a above-average definition for 6.1MP sensor. The handling and grip feels the better compared to others in this price range and the build quality feels tougher too.For new users, the menu system is very user-friendly because it shows more graphic on the controls like the Aperture size and Shutter speed rather than numbers on the LCD screen. It does comes with a 18-55mm lens kit too but the bad news is,no VR(vibration reduction) system so you must be careful of camera-shake.

I like:The design and handling,It uses SD card so easier from those who upgrade from compacts, responsive, fast auto-focus.

I don't like:Lens kit without VR,low on features,no Live View offered in this price range, required to press ''i'' button to acess to shooting menus which is a waste of time, noise visible at ISO setting above 400.

Then is Nikon D60.A DSLR which shares the same size and almost identical design with the D40.What's diffrent from the D40?Instead of 6.1MP,D60 is now growing to 10.2MP which enables you to print out a poster-sized image where the details are still retained.D60 also uses EXPEED image processing concept which does help to produce sharp and crisp images.Dust removal function are now added in D60 so say buh-bye to dusts. The kit lens for D60 also features VR which will be helpful to prevent camera-shake and reduces blurred shots. The rest are very similar to D40.

Nikon_b_D60

I like:Loaded with more features compared to D40 such as in-camera editing and more, new lens kit with VR,bright and punchy image at low ISO setting, brighter viewfinder, attractive and intuitive menus(similar to D40),excellent build quality.

I don't like:The ''i'' button issue,noise visible at ISO over 400,no Live View.

*Canon EOS 1000D and Olympus E-420 coming up tomorrow*
